The WIZnet W5100S-EVB-Pico and W5500-EVB-Pico both attempt to improve things by integrating Ethernet into a clone of the original design, requiring minimal additional footprint and remaining functionally identical to the Ethernet Hat. While the boards don’t have the luxury of an ENIG finish or a nifty buck-boost regulator, they offer a lot of capability for the price and are something that I have grown quite fond of.
