Project description
This is a shortened translation of original post.
Author was working with his partner on various projects.
One company invited author and his partner to discuss one project. This company project was to make a display frozen into ice rink.
Total area of central display – 81 sqm. Plus two side displays. All of them made with WS2813. Company needed someone who could develop control and management system using Arduino/Raspberry.
Author and his partner decided to make several control boards that would manage 8 LED lines. Data to each controller was sent using Ethernet and UDP protocol.
Idea was as following: PC sends data to Raspberry. Raspberry sends data thru 1000Mbps to Ethernet switch, then data is sent thru 100 Mbps to many control boards. First prototype was as below:

Since control board was required to be under the ice, it’s thickness should not be more than 10mm. Since there was no any Arduino board of such size, it was agreed to make customized board.
STM32F407 was selected as MCU. First it was planned to use built-in Ethernet controller, but because any fail would lead to image break on display, it was decided to use W5500.
Final controller board looked as below:

First tests with actual LED displays & Final result:
