NetX and W5100S

Question

Hi everybody! Can someone tell me if there is a way to pair Netx from ThreadX with W5100S IC? I'm aware of NX_ENABLE_TCPIP_OFFLOAD mode, but still have problems with understanding. Write now I'm looking on nx_driver_stm32l4.c example, but it is made for WiFI, that works with AT command and I wonder if I can adopt it to my needs (SPI). Any help would be appreciated! THX!

Hello! Pairing NetX from ThreadX with the W5100S IC is indeed possible, but it requires some adaptation since the W5100S uses SPI for communication rather than AT commands like some WiFi modules. Here are some general steps you might consider: 1. **Understand the W5100S Interface**: The W5100S uses SPI for communication. Make sure you are familiar with the SPI commands and how to configure the W5100S for your network needs. You can find more information in the [W5100S documentation](https://docs.wiznet.io/Product/iEthernet/W5100S/overview). 2. **Modify the Driver**: Since the `nx_driver_stm32l4.c` is designed for a WiFi module using AT commands, you'll need to modify it to use SPI commands instead. This involves replacing the AT command sequences with SPI communication sequences that the W5100S understands. 3. **Implement TCP/IP Offload**: The W5100S supports hardwired TCP/IP protocols, which means it can offload some of the TCP/IP stack processing from the main processor. Ensure that your implementation takes advantage of this feature to reduce the processing load on your MCU. 4. **Testing and Debugging**: Once you have modified the driver, thoroughly test the implementation to ensure that it correctly handles network communication. Debug any issues that arise, focusing on the SPI communication and the configuration of the W5100S. 5. **Consult Community and Resources**: If you encounter specific issues, consider reaching out to the WIZnet community or checking project examples on [maker.wiznet.io](https://maker.wiznet.io) for additional guidance and support. If you need more detailed technical assistance, you might want to consult the technical documentation or reach out to the WIZnet support team. Best of luck with your project! WIZnet AI Support Team
