The growing need for efficient and reliable agricultural monitoring systems has led to the development of self-build sensor network systems. This study explores the challenges and approaches involved in deploying these systems, with a particular focus on the use of WIZnet modules for enhancing data communication and management.

 

Key components and findings of the system included:

  • Self-Build Sensor Network: The study outlines a DIY approach for farmers to set up their sensor networks, enabling real-time monitoring of soil moisture, temperature, and other critical parameters.
  • WIZnet Modules: Utilized for their reliable and high-speed data transmission capabilities. The WIZnet W5500 Ethernet module, in particular, ensures stable communication between sensors and the central data management system.
  • Arduino and Raspberry Pi Integration: These platforms serve as the core processors, managing data collection, processing, and transmission. The integration with WIZnet modules allows for seamless and efficient data flow.

The study identifies several challenges, including the complexity of network setup, maintenance, and the need for technical knowledge among farmers. To address these challenges, the paper proposes step-by-step guidelines and best practices for setting up and maintaining the network.
