Today's project is a home automation project using the W5100.

The author goes by the name Aaron and is a maker based in canada.

He is passionate enough to have his own website where he posts his projects on a regular basis.

There are tons of projects posted, but one that uses ethernet is “The 1284 Board”.

This PCB was built as we refined the HW, and the first iteration was using an Arduino Nano and a W5500 module.

However, the limitations of the memory capacity of the atmega328 used in the Nano board prevented it from performing the OTA functionality the author envisioned, which led to the creation of The 1284 board using an atmega1284.

The author accidentally ended up designing using a W5100, which he says generated more heat than he expected.

To support PoE, The 1284 board used a Silvertel Ag9700-2BR PoE module.

The HW design was done using kicad and he is also sharing related resources.

The author installed the PCB in his own bathroom and tested it to control the lights and ventilation fan.

The code we're releasing also includes some OTA-related stuff.

오늘 소개할 프로젝트는 W5100을 사용한 home Automation 프로젝트입니다.

저자는 Aaron의 닉네임으로 케나다에 거주하는 메이커입니다.

본인의 홈페이지를 만들어서 진행하는 프로젝트를 꾸준히 게시할 만큼 열정이 넘칩니다.

수많은 프로젝트들이 게시되어있지만, 그중 ethernet을 사용한 프로젝트는 "The 1284 Board"입니다.

이 PCB의 형태는 HW를 개선하면서 제작된 PCB로서 최초의 형태는 아두이노 나노와 W5500 모듈을 사용한 형태였습니다.

하지만 Nano 보드에 사용된 atmega328의 메모리 용량의 한계로 저자가 구상하고있는 OTA 기능을 수행하지 못했기 때문에 atmega1284를 사용한 The 1284 board를 제작하게 되었습니다.

이때 저자는 실수로 W5100을 사용하여 설계하게 되었는데 생각보다 많은 발열이 발생했다고 합니다.

The 1284 board은 PoE를 지원하기 위해서 Silvertel Ag9700-2BR PoE 모듈을 사용했습니다.

HW 설계는 kicad를 사용했으며 관련 리소스 또한 공유하고 있습니다.

저자는 PCB를 직접 본인의 화장실에 설치하여 조명, 환기팬 조절에 Test 했다고 합니다.
