Ok, temporary solution: Socket close and then chip reset.
RE: Wizfi250 strange close

yes but it will require more or less 10 to re associate and re open TCP server.
if user try to access to your device, hi will not be happy !
flash the new firmware take 5 minutes, you can roll back if you want …

Dear Phil31!
In theory yes.
But in practice our system is an embedded industrial device.
We use wifi module as a chip.
It is hard wired to PCB, and has no feature to “repair” (e.g. download firmware).
Moreover wizfi module not implement method to upgrade firmware by MCU.
Have method only to upgrade by smart script run on DOS? computer or by OTA mode using built-in web server.
Other side we can’t use unoffcical firmware beacuse many reason.

1.0.5.2 is of course an official release, but stamped “beta”
i’m using it since more or less 2 years.
if you need multi socket support with your TCP server, then no choice, you need at least 1.0.4.x (from my memory…)
yes you can upload by MCU, i do it !.. you need to implement Ymodem protocol.
then you can do it by OTA, but for production, it’s not really fast.

Dear Phil31!
Now the main problem is a socket strange close.
I have still no information, this problem is exists on 1.0.5 firmware or not.
Other question is, if 1.0.5 fw is work well, then why it is not a official firmware? Why not used for new produced Wiz250 module?
Other sides, our product is delivered to unattended sations. If there is any “leak” in firmware, then it can be cause mass repair requirement on a far cities. This is why I need to thkin twice before step forward.

Hello,
i don’t know if your problem exist on 1.0.5.2 … i just suggest you test (as i’m using this last beta version since several years). what i know is that 1.0.5.2 work at least as 1.0.3.
i’ve got some small troubles when i try to activate multi sockets feature … but no problems with others functions.
why it’s not an official fw … only Wiznet team can answer … !
if this is critical, i just suggest that you test all possibility/solution before you release !
and for sure, implement at least a watchdog feature in your CPU !
for same reasons of you, as my products are all overs the worlds, i implement a solution to allow W250 FW update. as explain, it use the Ymodem protocol.

Dear Phil!
OK. I try it.
But looks like the easy way to do it (MCU case) is a OTA upgrade.
MCU send a start OTA AT command, then technican can upgrade firmware using a wifi networked computer.
The Ymodem implementation is take a long time.

yes OTA solution may be enough.
keep us informed if 1.0.5.2 solved your issue
