Module for controlling Bescor MP-101 and LANC-compatible video cameras via wired LAN

This module allows you to control the Bescor MP-101 via wired LAN. You can use a dedicated remote controller or any commercially available remote controller compatible with VISCA over IP.

In addition to the pan and tilt operations of the MP-101, it supports operations of LANC-compatible video cameras (zoom, REC/STOP, focus, iris, menu, OSD ON/OFF, etc.).

The protocol supports both a proprietary protocol (UDP) and VISCA over IP. The proprietary protocol allows various operations via LANC.

Operation with a dedicated remote controller

Operations with the dedicated remote controller use a proprietary protocol (UDP) and allow PTZ operations and various camera settings.

In addition to the joystick-operated remote, we offer a "motion sensor remote" utilizing an accelerometer, gyro, and geomagnetic sensor. However, please note that the MP-101's operation speed is not fast, and you cannot control it by specifying the operation angle, making it less user-friendly compared to operating DJI RS 2 or RS 3 Pro.

Compatible VISCA over IP controllers

As of December 2023, the following controllers have been tested for compatibility with VISCA over IP:

Kato Vision KT-KC20 Link

Telestream Wirecast 15.2.1 (1 Beyond VISCA/UDP)

Bitfocus Companion 3.1.2 (Sony: VISCA v2.7.0 module) Link

Roland VR-6HD

VISCA over IP primarily supports protocols by Sony and PTZ Optics, mainly via UDP. Full compatibility with all controllers is not guaranteed.

Future firmware updates (handled via return service) may expand compatible controllers. Due to hardware limitations, simultaneous support for other company protocols in addition to VISCA is not feasible.

Control via Bitfocus Companion

Bitfocus Companion is open-source software that allows control of various equipment using commercially available control surfaces like Stream Deck. The software provides modules compatible with various devices. For this product, you can use the "Sony: VISCA" module and the "Generic TCP and UDP module."

The "Sony: VISCA" module supports PTZ operations and focus control. However, the MP-101 does not support the preset recall function.

Using the "Generic TCP and UDP module," you can issue arbitrary LANC commands, enabling camera menu operations through interfaces like Stream Deck.

No support for preset functions

Unlike the DJI RS control unit, the MP-101 does not support preset recall functions. External acquisition of pan/tilt positions or control by specifying operation angles is not possible. If preset recall is necessary, consider using DJI RS 2, RS 3 Pro, and the DJI RS control unit.

Operating distance

This product uses TCP/IP (UDP), allowing remote operation across routers. It supports 100BASE-TX or 10BASE-T connections. As Auto MDI/MDI-X is not supported, a crossover cable or crossover converter is required for direct connection between the remote and the DJI RS control unit.

Typically, the product is used within the same segment, with a 100m distance between devices for direct connection and up to 205m with up to two HUBs in a cascade. Using optical conversion can significantly extend the connection distance.

For connections across routers, IP address and default route settings are required via the Web UI for both the device and the dedicated remote controller.

Power supply

The power is supplied from the MP-101 unit, but due to the high power consumption of this module, it is recommended to power the MP-101 via an AC adapter.
