## Article

Booster is an eight channel RF power amplifier, providing several Watt of RF between 40MHz and 500MHz. Mounted in a compact 2U high 19'' chassis, it is optimised for low cost and low power consumption, while providing good RF performance. It provides full interlocking and logging via a flexible ethernet-based remote interface.

Booster is offered in two variants:

- **Booster** optimized for high efficiency

- **Booster-HL** optimized for high linearity. It offers the second harmonic at -40dBc level.

Design files (schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs) can be found at [Booster/releases](https://github.com/sinara-hw/Booster/releases). The mechanical parts have their own repository at [booster-mech](https://github.com/sinara-hw/booster-mech).

The legacy firmware has its own repository at [booster-firmware](https://github.com/sinara-hw/booster-firmware).

A complete rewrite of the firmware is being developed by [QUARTIQ](https://github.com/quartiq) to align Booster firmware development with the other projects (Stabilizer, Thermostat, ARTIQ), to resolve quality issues in the original firmware, and to enable continued maintenance and improvements. The firmware is offered as an option and licensed on a restrictive per-device basis with redistribution and reuse prohibited. End users obtain access to the source code to modify it but the number of installed instances is limited and certified. Once the development and maintenance investments have been recovered the firmware will be offered under LGPLv3. Contact QUARTIQ for requests. The improved firmware will also be available on M-Labs units.
