# Google Test

> what is Google Test and how to use it

Original author: Lawrence

## Article

Google Test is a C++ testing and mocking framework developed by Google. The framework is based on the xUnit architecture. It is a unit testing library, which is used to test C and C++ code on various platforms. Google Test is also implemented in various projects such as Andriod Open Source Project, Chromium projects, LLVM compiler, Protocol Buffers, OpenCV, Robot Operating System, etc.

The features of Google Test include

1. Macros for writing unit tests: Google Test provides many features for writing test programs. Macros are used to define individual tests within a test suite, tests that use test fixture classes, and value parameterization tests.

2. Various Assertion macros: Google Test provides a wide range of Assertion macros that are used to validate code behavior. You can use these macros to perform different kinds of assertions. For example, you can check Boolean conditions, compare values, compare strings, compare floating point numbers, handle exceptions, and more.

3. Provide test examples: Google Test provides examples to demonstrate its various features through the googletest repository shared on github.

With Google Test, it is possible to detect regressions based on code changes and provide quick feedback to developers. Google Test can also be integrated with CMake.
