# WIZ510SR-RP Conflicting network issue

## Question

Asked by Matt_K on 2025-05-20 in Serial-to-Ethernet & ConfigTool.

**Setup**
For my application, I am using a WIZ510SR-RP for serial communication between a pc and a PLC. The WIZ510 has IP address 192.168.0.190 and is connected to the pc via an ethernet network with static IP 192.168.0.1. My software connects to the PLC via a virtual comm port created with WIZVSP.
**Problem**
This setup works until I connect the pc to a router (with IP 192.168.0.20) for an internet connection. Because this has the same subnet as the first ethernet network, the connection now fails. Even when my software explicitly attempts to connect to the WIZ510 via the 192.168.0.1 network instead of the router, the communication fails. How can I still use the WIZ510SR-RP for this application?

Using a wifi connection or a different router is not currently an option for my specific application. Connecting the router to the pc is the only variable that has changed, the software was working fine otherwise.

Hello,

Based on the configuration and symptoms you described, **You may need to check if your gateway is also set to 192.168.0.1.**
This can cause a high chance of IP conflict on the network.

As you mentioned, your PC is using a static IP address on the Ethernet network (`192.168.0.1`), and communication fails when the router is connected for internet access.

The important point here is that most standard routers also use `192.168.0.1` as their default gateway address.

So if both the PC and the router are using the same IP address (`192.168.0.1`) at the same time, a network conflict will occur, which can prevent communication with the WIZ510SR-RP device.

Please check if your PC’s static IP address is the same as the gateway address.
If they are the same, try changing your PC’s IP setting from static to DHCP,
or manually assign a different IP address that does not conflict with other devices on the network.

Thank you.

For anyone else experiencing this issue, it was solution #4 which solved the problem. Solutions 1 and 2 could theoretically work but were not doable for my specific application. Completing the steps in solution 3 did not do anything to solve the problem.

Thanks for the response. Changing my network ip to something besides 192.168.0.1 could generally solve this problem, but my specific application/use case requires that I keep my network at this IP.
