# reset over network

## Question

Asked by bahmanroshan on 2025-02-23 in Ethernet Chips.

WE HAVE A NETWORK BY TWO USER. IN EACH SIDE WE HAVE STM32 AND W5500 . The Connection IS tcpserver/client

Is It Possible To Reset The Other Side MCU By INTn Of W5500 Before Connection Between Server / Client ?

My Means Is This

Please Image This Scenario

Server Is Power On It Need To See Client And Then Start The Process Of Connection . But Is Not Successful To Connect . I need To Reset The Client MCU For Connecting The Server .

How Can Do It ?

In your scenario, you want to reset the client MCU using the INTn pin of the W5500 before establishing a connection between the server and client. The INTn pin on the W5500 is typically used for interrupt signaling to the host MCU, indicating events such as received data or connection status changes. It is not designed to reset the MCU directly. However, you can implement a workaround by using the INTn pin to trigger an interrupt on the client MCU. Within the interrupt service routine (ISR) of the client MCU, you can implement logic to perform a software reset of the MCU. This would require configuring the W5500 to generate an interrupt under specific conditions that you define, such as a failed connection attempt. Here is a general approach you could consider: 1. Configure the W5500 on the client side to generate an interrupt when a specific event occurs, such as a failed connection attempt. 2. Connect the INTn pin of the W5500 to an interrupt-capable pin on the client MCU. 3. In the client MCU's firmware, write an ISR that listens for the interrupt signal from the W5500. 4. Within the ISR, implement logic to perform a software reset of the client MCU. This could be done by using a watchdog timer reset or a software reset function provided by the STM32. Please note that this approach requires careful handling to avoid unintended resets and ensure that the system behaves as expected. Additionally, you should ensure that the interrupt configuration and reset logic are thoroughly tested in your specific application. If you need further assistance with the implementation, you may want to consult the technical documentation for the W5500 and STM32, or seek support from the respective communities. How Can Raise The Fail Connection Attempt To Asserted LOW/HIGH INTn Pin ?

Which Register Is Used it In W5500 Library ?

Is it possible to reset the other side MCU with INTn of W5500 before server/client connection?

A : For this question, it is not possible with INTn pin. It is difficult for the network chip itself to control which MCU it connects to. I think you would have to implement your own client reconnection code to power on and connect to the server.

Thank you.
