# Looking for Help with Choosing the Right IoT Module for My Project !!

## Question

Asked by salaasmarcelo on 2025-01-17 in IO Modules.

Hello everyone,

I am new to the world of IoT and working on a project to connect multiple sensors for remote monitoring via the internet. My project involves gathering data from temperature, humidity and motion sensors [jira certification](https://www.igmguru.com/agile-and-scrum/jira-project-management-training)..., then sending it to a cloud service for analysis. I have been exploring Wiznet’s products and the WIZnet Ethernet modules seem like a great fit. However.., I am not entirely sure which module would be ideal for my use case.

Here are my key requirements:

Reliable and low-latency connection.
Compatibility with microcontrollers like Arduino or ESP32.
Easy integration and support for common protocols like MQTT or HTTP.

Could anyone here share their experience with WIZnet products: ?? Specifically, has anyone used W5500 or W6100 for a similar application: ?? Any advice on setup, libraries, or troubleshooting would be hugely appreciated !!

Looking forward to learning from this amazing community. Thanks in advance for your guidance !!

With Regards,

Marcelo Salas

Hello Marcelo, Welcome to the world of IoT! It's great to hear that you're considering WIZnet products for your project. Based on your requirements, both the W5500 and W6100 Ethernet modules could be suitable for your application, but they have some differences that might influence your choice. **W5500:** - **Reliable Connection:** The W5500 is known for its stable and reliable connection, making it a popular choice for IoT applications. - **Compatibility:** It is compatible with microcontrollers like Arduino, and there are libraries available to facilitate integration. - **Protocols:** The W5500 supports TCP, UDP, IPv4, ICMP, ARP, IGMP, and PPPoE protocols, which are commonly used in IoT applications. - **Integration:** It is relatively easy to integrate with existing systems, and there are many resources and community projects available to help you get started. **W6100:** - **Advanced Features:** The W6100 supports both IPv4 and IPv6, which might be beneficial if you are planning for future-proofing your project. - **Compatibility:** Like the W5500, the W6100 is also compatible with Arduino and other microcontroller platforms. - **Protocols:** It supports a wider range of protocols, including TCP, UDP, IPv6, IPv4, ICMPv6, ICMPv4, IGMP, MLDv1, ARP, and PPPoE. - **Integration:** The W6100 is designed for more advanced applications and might require a bit more setup, but it offers more flexibility in terms of network configuration. For your project, if you are looking for a straightforward setup and are primarily using IPv4, the W5500 might be the easier choice. However, if you need IPv6 support or are planning to expand your project in the future, the W6100 could be more suitable. **Setup and Libraries:** - For both modules, you can find libraries and examples on platforms like GitHub or the WIZnet documentation site ([docs.wiznet.io](https://docs.wiznet.io)). - The Arduino IDE has libraries for both W5500 and W6100, which can help you get started with basic networking tasks. **Troubleshooting:** - Ensure that your microcontroller's firmware is up to date and that you have the correct libraries installed. - Check the wiring and connections between your microcontroller and the Ethernet module. - Use example sketches to test the basic functionality before integrating with your sensors and cloud services. I hope this helps you in choosing the right module for your project. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask! Best regards, WIZnet AI Support Team

Sorry for the delayed response.

The WIZnet module can handle all the functionalities you are thinking of.
There are also plenty of examples available.

It would be helpful if you could specify exactly what you are looking for.

We recommend the W5500-EVB-Pico as a priority.
There are many examples available, making it easy to use.

Please note that the Korean headquarters will not be available next week due to a traditional Korean event.
