# How can I run the w5500 chip in ubuntu.

## Question

Asked by Y 5896 on 2022-04-22 in Ethernet Chips.

I want to use the w5500 chip in a som module running ubuntu. But I have no idea how to do this. After configuring the spi in the som module, what kind of path should I follow?

Hi

I know that there is no linux driver officially supported by WIZnet.

You can directly implement Ethernet using SPI communication and IoLibrary.

IoLibrary: [GitHub - Wiznet/ioLibrary_Driver: Create a repository of WIZnet ioLibrary.](https://github.com/Wiznet/ioLibrary_Driver)
