# WIZNET W7500

## Question

What does CRS mean in (PD_00_AFR) PAD ALTERNATE FUNCTION REGISTER.
The reference manual of W7500 doesn’t explain clearly. could you please provide me a well explained complete reference document.

Hello,

CRS means “Carrier Sense Signal”. It is one of the signals making an MII interface, used to communicate with the Ethernet PHY.

On the wizwiki_W7500 board, you can see it is indeed connected to the PHY:
