# Overflow socket buffer RX

## Question

Asked by Maksim on 2020-11-26 in Ethernet Chips.

Didn’t find it in the description, what happens to the last packet that is larger than the free space in the receive buffer?
Most of all, the UDP regime is of interest.

1. Will half the package be accepted?

2. Will such a packet be ignored?

As far as I know, in case of number 2 is right.
