# What is the UDP ports used to search for this module?

## Question

Asked by spyder0069 on 2015-11-10 in Serial-to-Ethernet & ConfigTool.

I have an application that needs to be able to search for the WIZ550S2E module. I cannot find answers to these:

What is the UDP local port and UDP remote port number used to search for this device?
What is the string that should be sent during the search?
What is the return string sent from the device when its found?

I have this working with a WIZ105SR module which uses
remoteport= 1460
localport= 5001
Then you have to send F I N D

However this doesn’t appear to work with the WIZ550S2E. The module is found with their java app. If I look at the ports with a sniffer it seems like the ports are constantly changing so I can’t really determine it. An email to support only pointed me to the java app. Does anyone else have specs on the UDP Broadcast search method?

hi. spyder0069

sorry for the late reply.

Hi,

Is this the same for the W7100A Ethernet Chip?
I know there is a tool available but we would like to make our own config tool that searches for all wizznet modules on the same network and be able to configure the module(s)

thank you for your help or info

Kind Regards

Koen

Hi [@koenbielen](https://maker.wiznet.io/u/koenbielen),

Do you mean the WIZ107SR(or WIZ108SR) serial to ethernet module?
W7100A is used from the product, and it uses the Configuration tool.

If it is, please refer to the below documents.

- [WIZ107SR document](https://docs.wiznet.io/Product/S2E-Module/WIZ107SR/wiz107sr#documents)

- [WIZ107SR/WIZ108SR Configuration Communication Protocol Guide V1.0](https://docs.wiznet.io/Product/S2E-Module/WIZ107SR/wiz107sr#wiz107srwiz108sr-configuration-communication-protocol-guide-v10)

Thanks.

Hi,

We know there is a configuration tool but we like to make our own configuration tool.
So checking your documentation we can configure the device via UDP, that info looks good to start with :
<https://docs.wiznet.io/Product/S2E-Module/WIZ107SR/wiz107sr#wiz107srwiz108sr-configuration-communication-protocol-guide-v10>

But one thing we are missing is the UDP command used for finding all devices on the network
is that done with a UDP broadcast packet with data “FIND” ?
Is there a description on how this search can be performed?

thank you

Kind Regards

Koen

not sure if this could be used for the W7100A

Kind Regards

Hi, [@koenbielen](https://maker.wiznet.io/u/koenbielen).

WIZ107SR does not use ‘FIND’ packet directly.
By sending a packet with UDP broadcasting as a combination of several commands, the device(s) sends a response.

It may be helpful to refer to the WIZ750SR and Configuration Tool, which uses a nearly similar command system.

Please refer to the links below.

- [WIZ750SR Command Manual](https://docs.wiznet.io/Product/S2E-Module/WIZ750SR/command_manual-EN)

- [GitHub - Wiznet/WIZnet-S2E-Tool-GUI: GUI Configuration tool for WIZnet serial to ethernet devices.](https://github.com/Wiznet/WIZnet-S2E-Tool-GUI)

Thanks.
