# W5500 Breakout (HAIRY.GEEK.NZ)

> W5500 Breakout (HAIRY.GEEK.NZ)

Original author: HAIRY (source: https://hairy.geek.nz/projects/w5500-breakout/)

## Components

- **WIZnet W5500** x 1 ([docs](https://docs.wiznet.io/Product/Chip/Ethernet/W5500))

WIZnet parts: W5500 ([Datasheet](https://docs.wiznet.io/Product/Chip/Ethernet/W5500/datasheet?utm_source=maker&utm_medium=project&utm_campaign=w5500), [product hub](https://maker.wiznet.io/products/w5500/))

## Article

**DETAILS**

The breakout board includes all the passives and a crystal needed to drive the chip. The [WIZnet](http://www.wiznet.co.kr/sub_modules/en/) [W5500](http://wizwiki.net/wiki/doku.php?id=products:w5500:start) does not include a pre-programmed MAC, you will need to obtain one for production use. As this is a 3.3V part and no level shifting is included, if you want to use this board with a 5V Arduino (ie, most of them) then you’ll need to do some level shifting on the SPI interface yourself.
These may eventually be put into production, but for now it’s purely for my own code development.
