Martin Mohr Microcontrollers cost little and hardly need any energy. As a rule, however, the chips lack a WLAN module. With the WizFi360 you give your projects access to the network. A microcontroller is the best choice for many simple projects: The modules cost little, are real-time capable and usually have many IOs and interfaces.
