## Article

## 📌 Overview

HME Wireless, formerly NTN Wireless, makes the guest and staff pagers used in many U.S. restaurant chains. Its **ISTATION-N3 Integration Station** is the transmitter that lets a restaurant's table management or point-of-sale (POS) software page a guest automatically. When the host seats a party or the kitchen finishes an order, the software sends a page and the Integration Station broadcasts it to the pager on the 450-470 MHz band.

The FCC filing for the ISTATION-N3, granted on 2023-04-20 under FCC ID WDC-ISTATIONN3, shows a WIZnet WizFi360 Wi-Fi module on the main board. The filing also includes the WizFi360's own module test report, which is how a product reuses a pre-certified radio module instead of certifying a new Wi-Fi design from scratch.

> **Key takeaway:** A restaurant paging transmitter sold by a major U.S. brand and built in Korea uses WIZnet's WizFi360 as its Wi-Fi radio, alongside wired serial and network connections.

## What an Integration Station Does

A restaurant paging system has three parts: the pagers guests or staff carry, a transmitter that sends the radio signal, and the software that decides who gets paged. A basic transmitter has a keypad, so a host types a pager number and presses send. An Integration Station adds a computer connection, so the paging happens from the software the restaurant already uses.

HME's manual lists table management packages the transmitter has been tested with, including QSR, Radiant, Open Table, and Pro-Host. POS vendors document the integration on their side too. NCR's Aloha Kitchen guide covers HME wireless text paging, and PAR Brink's setup guide notes that the ISTATION-N must be on the same active network as the Brink POS system. If the software fails, the Integration Station still works as a standalone keypad transmitter.

## Inside the ISTATION-N3

The FCC internal photos show a two-part enclosure. The upper half holds the main board, with a DC power jack, a DB9 serial port, USB ports, an RJ45 network jack, the 450-470 MHz transmitter under a metal shield, and the WizFi360 module near the left edge. The lower half holds the keypad and a JHD1902M1 character LCD connected by ribbon cables.

The manual credits Lee Technology Korea for the electronic circuitry and warranty, and the RF testing was done by KES Co., Ltd., a Korean test lab.

## ⚙️ Role of the WIZnet WizFi360

The WizFi360 is WIZnet's industrial-grade 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi module. It connects to a host MCU over UART and is controlled with AT commands, with its own TCP/IP stack on the module. In the ISTATION-N3, it gives the transmitter a Wi-Fi connection to the restaurant network, next to the board's serial and wired network ports.

For a paging transmitter, this matters in practical ways:

- **Placement.** The transmitter needs to sit where its antenna covers the dining room and waiting area, which is not always next to the network closet or the POS terminal.

- **A pre-certified radio.** Using a module with its own FCC test report keeps Wi-Fi certification simple for a product whose main radio is the 450-470 MHz pager transmitter.

- **Simple host integration.** UART with AT commands lets the existing transmitter controller add Wi-Fi without porting a Wi-Fi driver and network stack.

HME does not publish how the three connections are prioritized or configured, and the firmware is closed. The filing confirms the module, its placement on the main board, and its certification report.

## Vendor, Availability, and Price

- **Brand:** HME Wireless, Inc., Suwanee, Georgia, United States. FCC grantee: JTECH, an HME Company.

- **Manufacturer:** Lee Technology Korea, per the user manual's notice and warranty.

- **Certification:** FCC ID WDC-ISTATIONN3, granted 2023-04-20, 450.025-469.988 MHz.

- **Where to buy:** through HME Wireless sales representatives and paging dealers.

- **Price:** not published.

## Where It Fits

HME Wireless has built its paging business on large chain restaurant accounts in the United States, and the Integration Station is the piece that connects those pagers to software. That makes it a link between WIZnet hardware and the restaurant POS ecosystem: NCR Aloha, PAR Brink, and table management platforms all document how to talk to it.

## Value and Limits

**Value.** This is a shipping commercial product from a recognized hospitality brand, with a Korean manufacturer behind it. It shows the WizFi360 used the way it was designed to be used: a drop-in, pre-certified Wi-Fi module added to an existing product over UART.

**Limits.** The public record does not name the board's main MCU or the network controller behind the RJ45 jack, and it does not describe how Wi-Fi and wired connections are chosen.

## ❓ FAQ

**Q. What does the WizFi360 do in the HME ISTATION-N3?** It is the transmitter's Wi-Fi module, giving it a 2.4 GHz wireless connection to the restaurant network in addition to its serial and wired network ports.

**Q. How do we know the ISTATION-N3 uses a WizFi360?** The FCC internal photos for FCC ID WDC-ISTATIONN3 show the module labeled WIZnet WizFi360, and the filing includes the WizFi360 module test report.

**Q. What software can trigger the pagers?** HME lists QSR, Radiant, Open Table, and Pro-Host, and POS vendors including NCR Aloha and PAR Brink document their own integrations.

**Q. Who makes the ISTATION-N3?** It is sold by HME Wireless in the United States, and the user manual credits Lee Technology Korea for the electronics.

**Q. Can it work without a computer?** Yes. HME's manual describes using it as a standalone transmitter from its keypad if the paging software is unavailable.
